You know how there are certain foods, sounds, sights, or events that you associate with certain people instantaneously? Lemon Meringue Pie is one of those things for me. Say lemon meringue pie and I automatically picture my Grandma Koz, sitting in a restaurant in Wisconsin surrounded by her family who is watching her every move as she forks up a mouthful of lemony meringue goodness and screws her face up into a delighted pucker with the first taste. We knew it was good if G-Ma nearly winced at the sour treat. I'm smiling right now just thinking about how much Grandma appreciated a well made lemon meringue pie.
So no long drawn out diatribe from me on National Lemon Meringue Pie Day. Just a smile at my memories of one amazing lady and a prayer that she continues to watch over me and mine. Miss you G-Ma, love you, hope you're kicking some butt at Heaven Bingo (and that you get B1 in the corner on every card), hug Papa extra tight for me and know that we're enjoying our lemon meringue pie today and thinking of you.
