Anticipation

I'm not sure that I'm going to be able to sleep tonight.  I have been looking forward to tomorrow for weeks now.  And the fact that I have been able to keep it a secret from Noah the entire time is the icing on the cake.  I'm not exactly known for my ability to keep my big mouth shut, though I'd say that I'm MUCH better than I used to be ;-)  In fact it hasn't been me that's spilled the beans on a couple of major secrets lately, I'd like to point out.  I'm picking up the kiddo a little early from school, so about 11:45 tomorrow morning think about one very excited almost five year old heading to the old ballpark with his Mama.

In other news around here, today was Kid Kitchen and we made some homemade fruit snacks (which are completely gone, no lie) and a different cheese cracker recipe which we actually cut into different shapes.  They really liked that.  Though when I asked them about their favorite part of today, Mikayla says "when we got to ride in the car without shoes on"  Really child?  I had forgotten to drop off a library book last night which was actually due back today that we ran over this morning to the drop box.  I told them they didn't need shoes or a coat, no one was getting out, so just head out to the car.  Apparently this was the coolest thing ever.  Some days...

Can't wait 'til tomorrow...

It's also National Buttermilk Biscuit Day and I tried (believe it or not) for the first time ever to make my own buttermilk biscuits from scratch.  My baking skills have gotten more and more proficient lately, so I figured I couldn't mess it up too badly.  Fortunately, I didn't, in fact, according to Grant I nailed it.  To me, the logical thing to pair with my amazing biscuits was some sausage gravy (again, something I've actually never made before).  It was a hit all the way around here and I don't see myself buying refrigerated biscuit dough anytime soon.

Have I mentioned that I'm ridiculously excited about tomorrow?

The temperature rose a bit today and the sun was shining after dinner so both kiddos requested some outside time.  Noah wanted to ride his bike so Grant and I followed on foot with Kayla riding piggy back.  While I did enjoy Kid Kitchen, if you ask me what my favorite part of today was it was listening to the Mikayla babble during our outing.  She went from talking about my time in Cincinnati  to if we have enough sheets for all the beds in the house, to where each of us get dressed after showers to the deer in the back yard in a matter of 45 seconds, I kid you not.  I could not follow her stream of thought if I tried, but she kept Grant and I more than a little entertained.  She is so her Mama's daughter...

I'm actually dancing around a bit as I type tonight, so excited.  Off to watch the rest of tonight's game, pack up everything I need for the game (got to make sure I have Noah's glove and lots of sunscreen!) and then figure out how I'm going to tackle chocolate chips tomorrow.  Until then...

PS - Really really excited!

Could not resist getting Kayla this shirt, it says "My brother has the coolest sister ever"

How can you not love those two faces?

Noah working on his knife skills again

 Playing with the food processor

Our cracker dough ready to chill for a bit

 Cutting out the crackers

We decorated them a bit, too

These were much yummier than these we decided

A couple of our fruit snacks (they were apple flavored!) before they all disappeared

 Aren't these beautiful?
